Good morning and Happy Sunday to all! It's beautiful outside, but freezing cold here in South Carolina. The temp right now is 32! Yikes! We are not used to the cold temps we've been having lately, so staying in and painting is good! I had a sketch from over a year ago, and finally got brave enough to start painting it with oils. Not a medium I'm comfortable with, but after trying it last week with my granddaughter I was ready to try it again! This is my grandson, Levi:
I'm also interested in expanding my knowledge of watercolor, so I bought a book to help me along. I've painting flowers, but never a whole painting with layers.
I also signed up for Wyanne's watercolor class, and I'm so excited to be learning from her again! She's a wonderful talented artist and just a really nice person. I was so happy to hear she is at home and doing better after her recent surgery. I've been praying for her for weeks, since hearing she was sick. But God is good and he is healing her body.
I'm linking with Alexandra, another wonderful artist! I hope you will join in the fun and see what other artists have been creating this week! xo

New Oil Painting for SS
Good morning and Happy Sunday! I've been working on a couple of paintings recently. This first is of my youngest granddaughter and is from a pic I took last summer at the beach.
I still have her skin to finish. This will be my first attempt to paint skin in oils.
Below is a wip, done in acrylics.
This too, is taken from a picture of our neighborhood. When I run in the evening, I see this scene from the top of one of the hills.
This last painting I shared on my last post. I think it's finished, but I have a problem I hope someone can help me with. It's painted on canvas board, and the board is slightly warped! If you know how to fix this, please let me know, as I was hoping to hang this in my craft room.
That's all I have for now! I'm linking with Sunday Sketches, hosted by the sweet Alexandra. I hope you will join me in seeing what other artists are making this week. (Link is on the right)

Happy New Year!
Hello and welcome to the first entry of the new year for Sunday Sketches with Alexandra! Thank you for hosting Alexandra. I've enjoyed the weeks of sharing art with you and the other artists! (see link on the right if you want to join us this week)
Below are 2 new paintings, still wips, inspired from a class I took last year from Junelle (The Art of Wild Abandonment 2). I had only copleted about half of the class last year, then over the holidays remembered I had a few more videos to watch. I'm glad I did, as I really enjoyed the 2nd half of the class even more then the first 1/2!
The details on the second painting are so small, but I'm really enjoying working on it. This painting is inspired by my grandmothers house in Wisconsin, where we visited each summer around the 4th of July. I've included all of my siblings, (yes, 12!) enjoying the many activities we did while at her house. The 3 kids in the front, represent me and 2 of my siblings, Bill and Mary. I still remember us running down the sidewalk on the 4th, holding our sparklers and laughing the whole time! We played on the playground almost every day. Does anyone recognize the wooden box game? We played with popsicle sticks and a wooden puck. So much fun and happy memories! I would love to hear a special memory of yours from your childhood, or if you are so inspired, I would love to see paintings of those memories.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
