Happy Sunday to everyone! I've been working in my new journal for the Sketchbook Project that I signed up for recently. The only problem has been the thin paper. I tried to glue several pages together to make it sturdy enough for paint, but it just wrinkled the paper and in some cases, curled it. Next, I tried PVA glue, which seems to be better then gel medium. Anyway, here is my sketch and finished page.
I also played with a chipboard box I bought awhile ago from Hobby Lobby. So far, I've just painted the lid.
Well, that's all I have for today. If you want to see other sketches, check out Sophia's blog. (Link is on the side)
Have a wonderful day and week!

I've heard a few problems with those thin pages in the Sketchbook project. I haven't started mine yet. Nice sketches to start yours anyway!
how sad that your sketch book got wavey when painted. I guess sketchbooks are for sketching. I do paint in my Moleskin sketch book and it holds up fairly well, still I skip pages, so that paint is not on the back of another painted page, just in case.
Yours are very nice.
Good morning Debbie. I am not working on the sketchbook project but I have heard from others about the thin pages. I love your sketch and it is finished nicely. The box lid is very nice also, are we going to get to see the rest of the box when your finished?
These are both great! I really need to do some sort of sketchbook project. Love the lid painting.

I like your projects you have going. LOVE that butterfly. You're coming a long way with your art. :)
Happy Sunday!
Hi Debbie,
I like the butterfly on the box lid you too. Great idea and nice summery details.
Too bad about the paint. I hope it didn't ruin your book. I have seen a lot of people signed up for this...good luck! looks like fun.

Wonderful, Debbie--keep going!!
The page came out beautifully & love the top of the box from H.L.
I guess we've all tried to paint on paper that fights us. However, it looks like you won the battle. :)
I think you've done really well with the paper so far! I've been finding it pretty tricky. Seems to be ok with acrylic paint, but not anything more watery. I did a little test using different materials if you are interested:
