Hello and welcome to the first entry of the new year for Sunday Sketches with Alexandra! Thank you for hosting Alexandra. I've enjoyed the weeks of sharing art with you and the other artists! (see link on the right if you want to join us this week)
Below are 2 new paintings, still wips, inspired from a class I took last year from Junelle (The Art of Wild Abandonment 2). I had only copleted about half of the class last year, then over the holidays remembered I had a few more videos to watch. I'm glad I did, as I really enjoyed the 2nd half of the class even more then the first 1/2!
The details on the second painting are so small, but I'm really enjoying working on it. This painting is inspired by my grandmothers house in Wisconsin, where we visited each summer around the 4th of July. I've included all of my siblings, (yes, 12!) enjoying the many activities we did while at her house. The 3 kids in the front, represent me and 2 of my siblings, Bill and Mary. I still remember us running down the sidewalk on the 4th, holding our sparklers and laughing the whole time! We played on the playground almost every day. Does anyone recognize the wooden box game? We played with popsicle sticks and a wooden puck. So much fun and happy memories! I would love to hear a special memory of yours from your childhood, or if you are so inspired, I would love to see paintings of those memories.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hello and what lovely paintings especially as they represent childhood memories.
I remember having 'Roller-Disco's' in the summer in our front garden as it one of the few gardens on the road that was paved. So our parents would put the music up in the front room, open the windows and we would skate until bedtime. Happy summer memories....and thank you for prompting me to think of them!
Happy SS
Debbie I love you special childhood memories paintings! I hold a special place in my heart for all the childhood holidays we had at my family's in Potenza (south of Italy) with my grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins, such special times!
Best of wishes to you dear friend,
hugs

Happy New Year! Wow, I'm an only child so I can't even imagine having so many siblings. What fun memories to draw.

Love them....what great memories.
Oh this is wonderful! I love this way of painting pictures and memories! Would you mind to tell me something more about the class you did? It sounds fantastic! And the pictures are so sweet and lovely.
Debbie, what lovely childhood memories and paintings! I remember the hot summers, a lot of swimming in the sea, and helping the parents with the farm work with my brothers.
These are both great, but my favorite is the second one. I love the bird's eye view and all the children playing. Happy New Year!
I love your paintings. They're absolutely lovely! Best wishes to you for a wonderful new year. :)
